Building WabsWorld
Why I made WabsWorld, and what I want it to be.
I started wabsworld an unknown number of years ago, as a themed creative outlet exercise.
It started as a logo, and two colors - black + green. I think at the time I was seeing
other creators making magazine style photography posts with a big logo over the featured image,
I was really drawn to this idea that I could create my own magazine and started playing around
with what it could look like. From here I was drawn to certain elements of manifestation & the magic
of colors and intentional design elements, this is where the green and 'first aid' symbol came from.
I needed it to feel like a reason to create, a brand of my own that felt like a healing exercise,
reeling in the struggles of not knowing my medium - with the how or what to create when I was younger.
The reality I have found today is that I use whatever medium feels right for a project, I love
incorporating all my different ideas and interests into my work, and I have found that the more I create,
the more I know what I want to create.
The future
For now I am simply using this branding more, in this new website, in my latest photography endevours, building websites, FX design, and anything else. No idea the end result, it's more of an ongoing practice to keep me on track of creating what I want, never surrendering to the commonalities and plainness of many creative works. Not to disparage the common, but I want to make things that feel like they have a little bit of magic in them, and I want to keep pushing myself to make things out of immense love.
"I love incorporating all my different ideas and interests into my work, and I have found that the more I create, the more I know what I want to create."
Wabsworld is now a website, a journal, a project archive, and a place to share my work and thoughts. I want it to be a place where I can share things that don't fit on social media, and where I can experiment with different formats and ideas. I want it to be a place where I can document my creative journey, and where I can connect with others who are interested in similar things.
